One last drink of Freedom

A table in the back of the bar was open. It was a perfect table they could see anyone that was approaching or looking at them with out having to worry that someone would come from behind them.

A waitress came by and told them about their drink specials. The specials sounded good and they each took one. There was no sign of the person that had been following them yet. He could be waiting outside or by the entrance it was a big bar. Most likely a new person would keep an eye on them inside the bar.

The drinks came quickly and Eru took a big sip of it. He was thirsty. It was a good choice, very tasty, not too much alcohol and a good mix. “What should we do about these guys? Should we approach them?” Eru took a long slow drink.

“I have a feeling they come from the council or someone equally high up. I don’t know what they want from us”, Charmalina shook her drink a bit getting the ice to move around.

“Ya I don’t think we could get too much information from them. I don’t know if we can trust anyone on the council and going to Basq again doesn’t seem like a good idea.” Eru paused, the music stopped. The manager of the nightclub told everyone to remain calm and stay where they were. Police tactical units entered the building.

“Don’t try and escape yet”, Charmalina let Eru know, “They probably have the exits covered and it may not be us they are looking for. Three groups formed, two of them looked at the tables and dance floor. The other group searched the washrooms.

Eru took another sip of his drink to try and slow his mind down. It was racing. He had to be ready when the moment came. The police were getting closer to their table. They had protective gear on, shields ready and guns armed. They had barely stopped to pause at any of the other tables. “Should we let them take us?”

“I think so we are too far from an exit, I bet they want a reason to fire their guns at us and others”, Charmalina looked back somberly. “We can escape once we get outside, just pay close attention to me.”

The three groups of police formed one group around them and asked who they were. The police arrested them and read them their rights. They were being arrested for terrorism charges. They were led out an emergency exit at the back of the nightclub. Police vehicles were waiting for them. Patting them down to search for weapons and then cuff them, Eru looked at Charmalina. She nodded back at him.

At the same time they grabbed the person that was feeling them for weapons. Eru grabbed the policeman’s arm putting pain on the elbow just about breaking it and turned the man around to use as a shield. He leaned back against the police vehicle hold the man tightly causing him more pain.

Charmalina grabbed her policeman’s neck from behind and started to choke him also using him as a shield. She told Eru to go in front of her. He was in between her and the group of policeman who had their guns pointed at them and were yelling instructions at them. Opening the door she kicked the policeman towards them and slid to the driver’s seat. As she got ready to drive, Eru jumped into the open spot, ducked and closed the door behind him. As Charmalina sped away a few shots were fired getting stopped by the bulletproof car.

“I guess we are fugitives now”, Charmalina had a lighthearted laugh. “We need to ditch this car fast and get somewhere safe.”
