“Hello Eru and Charmalina. How are you two doing?” One member asked them feigning hospitality.
“We are doing fine”, Eru replied. “What are you doing here?”
“We understand that you came across a password before Brown died”, The other council member, very large around the waist, spoke this time.
“Yes we did,” Charmalina thought about it. They had no way of knowing that unless Basq had told them or a listening device of some kind was present. Why would they need it if they already had it?
“What did he say?” The large councilman asked. He really wanted that password.
Charmalina replied with some nonsense that was similar to what Brown had said but not exactly the same.
“Are you sure that is what he said?”
This time Eru replied following along, “Yes that is what he said.”
“Thanks for this information”, the councilmen stood up and the smaller one talked, “We must be going now.”
“But we have more details about what happened and questions about it”, Eru tried to stall them.
“We are very busy, we must go now”, the small man replied and with that they left the building.
They said nothing. They looked around for hidden listening devices but found nothing.
Feeling kind of tired and awake at the same time, Eru needed to get his body clock back on the correct time. Maybe another walk would help him. “Want to go for a walk to a random location?” He asked Charmalina.
“Sure”, she said and with that they left the hotel.
Once they were outside and had walked for a while, Eru asked Charmalina what that was about with Brown’s password.
“I’m not sure, there was no way they could have known we got a password from him.” She replied.
“Of course unless Basq told them or they already knew it”, Eru began to understand it more. “Why didn’t you tell them what we heard?
“Something did not feel right. Basq must have told them there was a password but not what it was. I don’t like the thought of Basq working for them. I don’t think we can trust the council anymore.” She looked around as they walked.
“Well not those two guys for sure. They were in an awful hurry. I can’t imagine that something good is going to happen. They were quite sloppy.” Eru suddenly crossed a street, grabbing Charmalina’s hand to follow him.
Charmalina noticed why. Someone was following them from a distance back and struggled to get across the street and then stopped. Another person would be following them now. Charmalina saw a line for a nightclub and they went to the end of the line and waited.
“I wonder how many there are”, Eru said more to himself than to Charmalina.
“We must be important”, She winked at him. “I have seen that guy before, when I thought someone was following us. They must be switching off quite often.”
“I hope there isn’t another bar fight”, Eru laughed as they got to the front of the line. The bouncer wasn’t paying any attention to them and let them through inside. The large dark nightclub with loud music from a live band seem like a good place to be now, Eru thought to himself as they walked in.
Interesting – a little more about the council. I am curious about them.
hmmm the council is so mysterious. Eru is working for them but they don’t seem trustible.
